By Ahsan Haque Stewie makes a dumb clone of himself to help out with some of his more Family guy meet the quagmires streaming complet day-to-day tasks and, much to his bewilderment, Quagmire finds a little bundle of joy on his doorstep. This was definitely one of the better complete episodes so far this season. It's hard to go wrong when you pair Brian and Stewie together, and Quagmire's quirky storylines always manage to thoroughly entertain, and this installment is no exception.
Stewie's superior intellect seems like it always takes a backseat to his other qualities, so it's nice to see the genius at work again. Bitch Stewie is hilarious. It's funny how a dumbed down version of Stewie is still pretty smart and is actually more like a normal toddler. Bitch Stewie gets some great moments in this episode. From the downright bizarre bathtub scene to the scene at the birthday party, Bitch Stewie pretty much steals every scene that he's in.
Everything from the slightly twisted animation to the hilarious voice, Bitch Stewie has this hilariously engaging quality that makes him really fun to watch. What Brian has to do to get Stewie to make him make a clone of himself was also ridiculously funny. That entire scene with Stewie insisting that he's not asking Brian to do anything sexual is brilliantly done.
Seth MacFarlane really does a great job in not only delivering these unique voices, but in making their interactions sound completely seamless and natural. The other story arc in this episode focuses on Petera ham radio featuring Rich Little impersonating Ronald Reagan, and of course, Quagmire's baby daughter. Quagmire and his baby share a few great scenes together, but as is often the case with Family Guythe storyline really isn't given much room to develop.
The transition between Quagmire realizing that he has a daughter, to taking the time to try and raise her, to giving her up for adoption seems to happen far too quickly, and you get the impression that there were definitely more jokes to tell within this arc, but it would have come at the expense of the hilarious Bitch Stewie and Bitch Brian storyline. Quagmire's last line of the episode suggesting that he wait to meet his daughter again when she's 18, and that he didn't change that much was fantastic.
It's good to see that Quagmire has a sensitive side, but it's also reassuring to know that he doesn't really change either. There were a couple of decent manatee jokes during this episode including a hilarious bit with a British guy on the radio talking about places that Peter's not sure they exist, which actually did almost sound like a real broadcast. Another great gag was about the unhealthy food people ate in the fifties. The kicker in that gag was the patron insisting he have cigarettes in his doughnut sandwich.
Less funny was the Fred Flintstone car chase. Haven't we see enough Flintstones gags on this show? There seems to be one every other week. With an endearing Stewie clone, an almost poignant Quagmire storyline, and some memorable jokes, this episode manages to entertain from start to finish. Even the requisite opening gag with Peter and the ham radio felt condensed enough to not overly irritate.
